TRAINING

Dr. Preisser is an experienced healthcare leader with fellowship training in breast imaging who is proud to call Iowa home. She has over 15 years of experience in diagnostic radiology. Advocating for breast healthcare improvements is very important to Dr Preisser; She is involved in breast cancer awareness advocacy at the state and national levels and previously served on the Board of Directors for the largest breast cancer fundraiser in the state of Iowa. Dr. Preisser is also actively involved in breast care lobbying efforts in partnership with the Iowa Army of Pink consulting on HR 2489 which was signed into law by Governor Reynolds in May 2024. This law expands access to breast imaging services in Iowa by removing financial barriers for patients. Dr. Preisser is a Susan G. Koman for the Cure Advocacy Ambassador.

Her perspective as a private practice breast imager is sought after; she has been a recurring panelist in the Society of Breast Imaging Summer Series and is a recurring speaker for the Breast Imaging Fellowship Consortium. She has participated in Breast Program Leadership Consortiums continuously throughout her career and served as co-chair, most recently.

Dr. Preisser has special certification in medical expert witness work and advanced training in mentorship/career development. Dr. Preisser currently serves as a member of the Iowa Medical Society Committee on Law and Ethics and on the Iowa Medical Society Board of Directors. Dr. Preisser currently chairs the Society of Breast Imaging SoMe Committee. Some of Dr. Preisser’s clinical interests include high-risk screening programs and breast cancer-associated genetic mutations, image quality control, advanced and emerging breast imaging technologies, and patient partnership/shared clinical decision making.

In her free time Dr. Preisser can be found on the sidelines as a soccer-baseball-dance-track mom cheering on her 3 boys. She and her husband love to entertain in their historic home, which is always “under construction” with some update, repair, or renovation. Dr. Preisser likes to tinker in her garden, hunt for treasures at estate sales, and to start new projects. Every day in October Dr. Preisser wears pink for Breast Cancer Awareness month; she wears pink most other days too.

EXPERIENCE

MY ‘WHY’

“I have committed my life and career to empowering women. Women are empowered in their healthcare journey when they are proactively given information to inform their healthcare choices” says Dr. Preisser. “When I was young, a family friend received a late-stage breast cancer diagnosis that she courageously, but unsuccessfully battled. I work tirelessly every day to prevent her story from being anyone else’s story. The best part of my work day is always connecting with my patients. As a breast imager I have the opportunity to care for patients year-after-year and it is wonderful to see the impact that our healthcare team can have on our patients lives. When we are able to determine if someone is at high risk for breast cancer or when we catch breast cancer in its very earliest stages with screening mammography, we are able to give that patient options and choices so they can take charge of their healthcare and live their best life.”
